Whilst freelancing at Blast design I came up for the front cover idea for the University of Sussex update mailer. The front cover relates to the main article inside.

The article is about research in to darkearth soils found in Africa. These soils are very fertile and hold more carbon in the earth. This is conveyed by using roots on the cover to represent Africa, which form the foundations of the tree.
