BRIEF
Castle pubs are a chain of 82 pubs in and around London, they asked 1977 Design to rebrand some of their most popular pubs. All of the Castle pubs are going through a renovation project to push the pubs as a high end gastro pub.
The rebrand is rolled out through a range of collateral items such business stationery, tab cards, postcards, flyers etc. As this was a collateral pack set up by Castle Pubs we had no control over print techniques and formats.
SOLUTION
Rebranding the Crown & Two Chairmen
as a traditional English food / drinking pub.
The identity for the Crown & Two Chairmen was a re-draw of the swing sign which was hanging outside the pub. The swing sign was created in a Victorian woodcut style, the identity has been adorned with a traditional type styling that reflects the Victorian era.
